About Us

Greater Good of America is a non-profit on-line thrift shop based in Washington, D.C. Consisting solely of unpaid volunteers, the organization has a storefront on PriceGrabber.com, as well as listings on Amazon Marketplace, eBay, and Half.com. Profits from the sale of donated items go to charities that donors can designate.

Our Mission

Of the three R’s - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Reuse is commonly the most overlooked.  For example, research has shown that reusing computers can be 5 to 20 times more energy effective than recycling them!* Our goal is to promote reuse by diverting unwanted items, particularly electronics, from the waste stream.

*Eco-Efficiency in Industry and Science series from Kluwer Publications: Computers and the Environment, edited by Ruediger Kuehr and Eric Williams. Research conducted at the United Nations University.

Our Philosophy

Long ago, America had been turned into a “throwaway society.” Despite the popularity of eBay, over 100 million Americans do not use its services. Our goal is to set up our own e-commerce web site that can attract buyers who might not otherwise consider buying used. By offering excellent customer service and a satisfaction guarantee, we hope to change citizens’ attitudes toward buying used, and do what we can to reverse the “throwaway” mentality.
